THERE ain’t no party like at Apprentice party – thank Goodness!
Week eight and Lord Sugar decided it was time for the candidates to let their hair down and party like it’s….well….the worst party in history. Looking at the expression on the kids faces they’d have had more fun sitting all their school exams at once.
Which made this episode all the more fun for the viewer, watching the remaining nice squirm their way through having to organise an event which means more to most couples than their actual wedding – their kids birthday party.
The result – chaos pretty much sums it up. What should have been a relatively easy task had more hot air than all the balloons they were using. Now whether this was done for effect and wanting more viewing figures as Lord Sugar does battle with Ant & Dec in the jungle, only a cynic would say. One things for sure, some of these muppets will be appearing on I’m a Celeb pretty soon.
Completely nuts
Many were clearly out of their depth with Selina announcing before the task began she didn’t like children, Joseph and Charleine putting together the worst party bags in history and then dicing with death after dithering over nuts, the whole (nut) saga was a joke. Which is more than can be said for PM Gary and his wingman David who made a kids rope adventure seem more like medieval torture for the poor sprogs. Quite rightly the “rope instructor” was hung out to dry by Lord Sugar but he wasn’t done any favour by his team who were quite happy to send him off to flog the rest of his dodgy t-shirts.
As project manager, Selina’s charm was evident in annoying the rest of the team and being generally nasty with everyone. High point – winning. Low point – telling the young girl what her party theme was going to be and then forgetting to get contact details from her mum, who was less than impressed throughout the whole process. But Selina was triumphant so well done to her but mainly thanks to their Chancellor, Richard, who kept the purse strings tight and treated the ever-increasing wallflower Varna by shouting at her all day. What a pleasant chap.
Sarcasm
In pretty dull episodes like this Karren and Claude are a welcome addition with sarcastic comments aplenty, they have been given a great rein in this series and they are a joy to watch.
But the last word has to go to Lord Sugar for the comment of the night to Charleine who thought she’d got away with the final boardroom confrontation. “Where do you think you’re going?” he sniped as she made a bolt for the safety of the reception.
Nowhere, it seems.
