Guest blog – 100 hours of Happy!

Hello, I’m Ben Pope and I have just completed my 100 hours of work experience at Happy Creative as part of the second year of my Interactive Media Development degree course at Blackpool & The Fylde College.

I was advised by a friend to approach Happy Creative for my work experience, as he had previously completed his high school work experience there and thoroughly enjoyed it. After viewing the extensive work in Happy Creatives’ outstanding portfolio, I was pleased to find that they offered all the graphics, website and video content I take a great interest in. I deemed it constructive to learn from those involved in both the processes and the practical environment, as I plan for a career in the creative industry.

As soon as I arrived at Happy HQ, I was greeted with a fun, friendly, but professional atmosphere that many would wish their work environment was.

Being given the chance to have an input and contribute towards live projects was massively beneficial and increased my productivity. After being involved with a range of different projects, I gained a deeper understanding of how a marketing agency operates, as well as taking the chance to transfer and improve on my presentation and communication skills.

I was given a profound sense of achievement when my work was used, boosting my confidence and helping me maximise my potential.

The way everyone’s individual work is recognised and praised makes every effort meaningful.  If you ever hear “It’s time for Happy High Fives”… have gloves ready! Many high fives on a Friday is a sure indication of a productive week. I could not help but observe the great degree of positivity present in the day to day operations of the agency

Throughout my time at Happy I was given tips and ways to improve and extend my skills within design software, learning useful and effective practices I was previously unfamiliar with, all contributing to visually appealing content. I also attended meetings and talks that enhanced my knowledge of branding and marketing.

Whether it was the extensive guidance from the talented creatives, or the strategic nature of the managers and directors, I became aware of the time, care and effort the Happies put in to every project. Every member of the team was encouraging and helpful, giving me greater confidence in my ability and pushing me further.

I am proud of the work I produced and tremendously grateful for the opportunity to work at Happy Creative. A truly valuable and worthwhile experience that will most definitely benefit me in the future.
