Providing an easy-to-use, multi-accessible platform for important information was at the heart of Happy’s latest client website.
The Association for Directors of Children’s Services (ADCS) approached Happy Creative to design a website where users – its members and the public who want to gain more knowledge about the topic field – can easily access information on a topic which has often dominates the political agenda. Giving the brand a visual identity was vital to how the website would look and operate.
ADCS was keen to have a fresh approach to its site, designed in a way to allow visitors to easily find out more about children’s services and the work the Association does. By working closely with the client, Happy was able to shine a spotlight on their work throughout England.
As a membership organisation, ADCS hold management roles in children’s services in local authorities across England and while every authority works differently it was essential its members had access to the important documents which form the policy from Whitehall.
After extensive planning sessions Happy developed a unique approach to this project for not only web design but the build and interface interaction with several intelligent searchable content tools. This allows the user to consume the content in whichever way they require.
Happy felt that the use of polygon shapes and how they linked together conveyed how people shared information. With many facets to children’s services a collaborative approach to how the association is viewed was at the forefront of the ideas process.
Amongst its many useful features is the “By Subject” area where a user can access policy documents, good practice examples, press releases and speeches on a particular theme by putting in keywords into the search engine.

The content has extensively been tagged and labelled so that it can be searched and found across multi-layered search channels. New technology allowed Happy’s developers to add tags to documents, focus on menu structures and offer clear channels of information.
