Happy to Have Played a Part in an Award-Winning Refurbishment
Posted on: 18th February 2026
We’re delighted to share that The Robinson, a recently refurbished business hub in the centre of Blackpool, has won Best Refurbishment at the Blackpool Civic Trust Awards 2026.
The Blackpool Civic Trust Awards are held annually to recognise the best building projects and civic activities in the area. These awards promote high standards in architecture and design while encouraging community involvement and local development.
This award recognises the collaborative work that has restored this historic landmark. Originally the Stanley Buildings was designed in the 1930s by visionary architect John Charles Robinson, who designed many of the town’s iconic buildings including the Derby Baths, South Shore Open Air Baths, Stanley Park’s Art Deco café, and the Technical College on Palatine Road.
Rebranded as The Robinson in his honour, the building offers a modern business hub, which is designed to support the growth of local businesses while respecting the character and heritage that make the building so iconic.
Happy’s branding and design
Happy’s role in reimagining The Robinson, was to lead with a strategic marketing plan and develop a new brand identity. Our marketing and branding specialists took time to explore the heritage of the Stanley Buildings, allowing us to draw inspiration from the art deco influence found in many of J C Robinson’s architectural work.
From brand strategy and visual identity through to interior branding, wayfinding, artwork and thoughtfully named rooms, we developed a cohesive brand experience, which enhances the architecture of all the meeting rooms, coworking spaces, offices and communal areas.
A collaborative approach
One of the most rewarding parts of this project has been the collaboration behind it. We worked closely alongside interior designer Bev Wood and her team from BWD Limited ensuring the branding and interiors worked hand in hand.
Together, we helped create a space that feels elegant, purposeful and welcoming, designed for modern ways of working while celebrating the building’s story. Bev and her team’s expertise allowed for the thoughtful selection of fabrics, complementary materials, furniture and standout pieces to create a natural flow throughout.
The finished offices, meeting rooms and co-working spaces reflect that collaborative spirit perfectly. Seeing Chief Happy Karen Lambert and Account Manager Krisztina Szigeti sitting in one of the booths alongside Lesley Crowe and Angela Kershaw from Blackpool Council during a marketing session felt like a full-circle moment. It captured exactly what The Robinson now represents: collaboration, creativity and community, all housed within a beautifully restored, award winning, historic Blackpool building.
Happy to be part of Blackpool’s creative and heritage story
As Happy is already the strategic marketing partner for Blackpool Council’s Academy initiatives, our involvement in this project further strengthens our commitment to supporting Blackpool’s business growth through thoughtful marketing and brand design.
We’re incredibly proud that The Robinson’s refurbishment has been recognised with the Best Refurbishment Award, and even prouder to be able to say that Happy played a role in its journey. It’s a powerful example of how heritage buildings in Blackpool can be thoughtfully reimagined through strategic branding, creative design and collaboration, without losing the character that makes them special.
