A happy experience for graduate Larissa
H ello there, I’m Larissa and I have recently completed a 7 week internship at Happy Creative Limited, working alongside Jenny Clark, Happy Creative’s PR and Content Manager.
This Summer I graduated with a First Class Honours degree from Manchester Metropolitan University in International Fashion Promotion. I approached Happy Creative with a desire to expand my industry knowledge and to learn new skills and gain experience within a creative agency. Like most graduates I didn’t have a specific role in mind for my career, so the opportunity to try out my skills in an area i am interested in, but unsure of as a permanent role, was the next step for me.
I was given tasks such as writing blogs and website content for both clients and for Happy Creative. My role has allowed me to undertake in-depth research for a variety of companies this has widening my insight into the different business sectors and through this I have learnt how to tailor brand handwriting appropriately. These were skills that I learnt at University and it has been great to put them into practice within an industry environment.
Being from Blackpool myself it has been great working for a local business and I have enjoyed researching content for Happy’s clients including The Blackpool Winter Gardens, Blackpool Unlimited and The Houndshill Shopping Centre.
The office at Happy Creative is a thriving place to work, with each day offering new tasks, briefs, and meetings. It is clear to see that the Happies strive for nothing short of excellence and put 100% effort into every single project. The work ethic is infectious, and has inspired me to just go for it when approaching tasks and not be afraid, your best idea may come from a failed one!
It has been really beneficial working with Jenny whose numerous years of experience in PR and marketing has provided me with great advice and suggestions for my work and career. There were moments and tasks where I lacked in confidence but Jenny always reassured me and believed in my abilities. I will take away with me new skills learnt under Jenny’s guidance, which will be valuable in whatever role I choose in the future.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Happy Creative working within the friendly office environment with dedicated and talented people. I wish the Happy team all the best and I know that they will continue to create amazing and bespoke ideas for their clients. I want to say a big thank you to Chief Happy Karen and Jenny for giving me the opportunity to learn new skills and insightful experiences.
As I start my search for my first graduate role I am reassured that I have made new friends and learnt valuable life experiences. My advice for businesses out there is don’t hesitate to contact the Happy Creative team their skills set is unique and exceptional and I have been privileged to witness first hand just how amazing the outcome can be.
