A Happy PR & Content Manager

‘Content is king’ originally quoted by Bill Gates in 1996, and he wasn’t far wrong, however, I wonder if back then they had any idea that content would be so key in today’s industry.

I

guess we will never know, but what we do know is that content is crucial and when used correctly, it can drive visitors to a website, increase conversions and enhance a company’s profile.

It’s not a new concept in the world of digital marketing but it’s certainly a hot topic at the moment, so much so that it’s becoming an essential part of any digital marketing strategy.

The one-size fits all approach is no longer viable, the key is to create tailored and authentic content that focuses on quality over quantity, to promote your brand.

But, what do we mean by content?

Content can be…. videos, text, memes, infographics, surveys, webinars and podcasts. Whichever you prefer it needs to be shareable and relevant to your industry. Using the power of digital technology, you can target and engage with your audience worldwide, with no limitations. Allowing you to target niche markets and broaden your engagement opportunities with the help of some carefully placed PPC advertising.

So why is content king?

Helps generate those all-important leads

The days of hard-core advertising are over, users want to read inspiring and meaningful content. Creating quality content improves your brand awareness in a saturated market ultimately helping your brand positioning, moving the prospect, to customer to brand advocate!

Encourages your engagement

This is where quality is key, good content whether this be in the form of a blog or through social media will encourage users to engage with your brand. If you continuously create powerful content, you ultimately increase the engagement of your content, with users interacting by liking and sharing. You can harness this power and really foster your relationship marketing by encouraging honesty, trust and long-term engagement.

Improves your SEO

Authentic content published regularly can significantly increase your SEO ranking. If the content strategically includes links and references to key words this will contribute to your content being ranked in high positions in the search engines, thus increasing the chances you have for users to see your content and associate with your brand.

Improves brand awareness

By using the power of quality content, you can propel your brand to new heights by making it stand out in what currently is a saturated market. Engaging and well-thought-out content can help you get noticed and in-turn increase lead generation and sales.

Increases traffic

Quality content that’s relevant will catch your audiences’ eye and should leave them wanting to read more or that’s the aim at least, you’ll need to make sure that your website is up to the job though. A website that has a variety of engaging blogs and news-worthy content will keep the user engaging for longer encouraging them to interact with the site and visit multiple pages - so be sure to keep your content fresh and up to date.

Content marketing has never been more important than it is today, the single fact that content is used everywhere, every time and for everything shows the magnitude of its power. Your organisation will not survive without investing within this area, so make 2018 the year to invest in developing your content marketing.
