Happy Creative’s Role in Reimagining The Robinson
Posted on: 2nd of May 2025
We are thrilled to share that Happy has been working behind the scenes since last summer on something truly special: The Robinson. The Robinson is a new contemporary business hub set within the restored Stanley Buildings in Blackpool town centre.
The Robinson is named in honour of John Charles Robinson, Blackpool Council’s visionary 1930s architect. J C Robinson designed many of the town’s iconic buildings including the Stanley Buildings, the Derby Baths, South Shore Open Air Baths, Stanley Park’s Art Deco café, and the Technical College on Palatine Road.
Following a successful tender win, we were appointed by Blackpool Council to create a new brand identity and lead the marketing launch for this iconic building’s transformation.
Working on a heritage space with such history has been a real highlight for us. Happy’s branding specialists developed a visual identity that celebrates the legacy of JC Robinson’s work while projecting a forward-thinking outlook.
The brand identity draws inspiration from the art deco influence found in J C Robinson’s most notable buildings. The pairing of sophisticated typography bridges the heritage of the space with its modern transformation, ensuring that The Robinson strikes a balance between timeless elegance and contemporary ambition. During the project we worked closely with the Council’s marketing and comms team to ensure that the brand aligned with the Council’s guidelines, creating a cohesive and unified identity that complements other Council assets.
We also collaborated closely with Bev Wood Design (BWD) who we partnered with for the tender. Working closely with Bev Wood and her talented team of interior design specialists, we've had the privilege of seeing their creative vision come to life. The expertise of Bev Wood and her team is evident in every aspect of the design - from the thoughtful selection of fabrics and colours to the intelligent use of space. Their attention to detail in choosing materials and creating a harmonious flow throughout the building has been invaluable. Together, we ensured that the interior design elements created an inspiring and cohesive workspace. This partnership has played a vital role in bringing to life a dynamic environment with over 40 private office spaces, 6 meeting rooms, a flexible co-working area, and thoughtfully designed breakout spaces.
It’s more than a place to work – it’s an environment built for growth. With ultra-fast broadband, fully equipped kitchens, showers and a secure bike storage, it’s a space which offers professionals, freelancers and businesses a vibrant, heritage-rich environment built for growth.
Setting The Robinson apart is its offering of a unique opportunity to access business support through regular networking events, development workshops, and tailored guidance from The Blackpool Growth Business Academy. As the strategic marketing partner for the Academy, Happy’s involvement in The Robinson is a natural blending of our ongoing commitment to supporting business growth.
Leading the marketing launch, Happy is creating strategic plans, raising awareness, building the brand, generating demand and creating a pipeline. We are looking forward to continuing to tell the story though content creation, brand assets and social media management.
“There’s something incredibly inspiring about helping to shape the future of a building that has such a storied past. We are proud to have been part of this restoration project, especially one that will provide not just workspaces, but a supportive community where businesses can grow and scale together,” said Karen Lambert, Chief Happy.
