Happy Helps Local Counselling Hub with Brand Refresh

“Kindness is doing what you can, where you are, with what you have.”

It’s a simple idea, but one that truly resonates with us at Happy.

Each year, as part of our purpose of spreading happiness and our support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals we give our time, our skills or our money to support our community. Recently, one of those causes was Fylde Counselling Service, an inspirational, volunteer-led charity supporting mental health and emotional wellbeing across the Fylde Coast.

Account Manager Marilia Spindler was inspired by the counselling service’s dedication and could see how their values aligned with Happy’s values. “Projects like this are at the heart of what Happy is all about – helping local organisations to thrive, while giving something back to the communities we’re proud to be part of,” she said.

One of our Happy designers spent time getting to know the charity, their people, their passion, and their purpose. That human connection became the starting point for a new visual identity that better reflected the charity’s values and their vital role in the community.

Fylde Counselling Service has been a lifeline to so many over the past 35 years. Based at the YMCA centre in St Annes and other hubs across the Fylde Coast, their trained counsellors are all volunteers who provide their expertise and a safe, confidential space for people to talk and be heard, no matter their background, income, or circumstances.

We saw in them a sense of care, of listening without judgement, and we knew we wanted to contribute something to them in a meaningful way. The new brand identity was our way of saying thank you in a Happy and creative way.

The final design features two sea birds flying over flowing water, representing the therapeutic relationship between a counsellor and a client. It’s a powerful symbol of the steady, compassionate presence Fylde Counselling Service offer to many people who need support.

Georgia Moon, a member of Fylde Counselling’s Steering Group, shared: “We are incredibly grateful for Happy’s branding expertise. They have been so lovely to deal with, and their kindness is very much appreciated, especially to a charity like ours. We love our new identity.”

This branding support was an extension of our values, and a small way of living out our purpose beyond marketing to give back to others. Because for Happy, purpose isn’t just a strategy, it’s what makes us Happy.
