In 2015, 193 world leaders agreed 17 goals to tackle poverty, equality and climate change. These are the UN Global Goals (aka Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs). They are a ‘blueprint for better’ – a roadmap for governments, businesses and individuals to create a better future for everyone by 2030.
But there’s a problem. Whilst last September the World Economic Forum put global awareness of the goals at an impressive 74%, it went on to say “Great Britain and Japan rank lowest in terms of familiarity, with 51% having never heard of them.”
Which is a little embarrassing.
Fortunately, one company is committed to raising support for the goals in the UK and overseas, and Happy is delighted to be helping.
Colin Curtis founded the Support the Goals initiative to drive awareness and action in delivering the SDGs. The company rates organisations on the steps they are taking to support the UN’s goals, building what is set to become the world’s largest research database of business support for the goals. The site is also a source of practical ideas for improving the sustainability of every business.
Already Support the Goals has rated FTSE 100 and FTSE250 companies like HSBC and Dunelm as well as many smaller companies. But there’s more to be done.
That’s why Support the Goals appointed Happy as their marketing and branding partner to raise awareness and grow the business by encouraging organisations of every size to get involved and be rated.
Already we’ve produced brand guidelines, generated content and video animation, designed the website and created marketing materials. Over the coming months we’ll continue to build the brand, generate awareness of the goals and drive more ratings through a mix of online and offline activity.
