Happy Continues Long-Standing Partnership
with Blackpool Public Health

We’re proud to share that following a successful tender win, Happy has been appointed by Blackpool Public Health. We’re looking forward to continuing supporting Blackpool Council’s Public Health team with a wide range of marketing and creative assets, including behaviour-change campaigns, annual reports and ongoing programme communications. 

This appointment marks the next chapter in our partnership, following supporting Public Health on various tenders for over a decade. At the heart of this work is a focus on helping people in Blackpool make healthier decisions in ways that feel achievable, relevant and grounded in everyday life.

Understanding Behaviour, Creating Meaningful Change

Public health campaigns are most effective when they go beyond awareness and genuinely support behaviour change. Our approach with Blackpool Public Health is rooted in understanding people first, their circumstances, and the barriers they face.

Many of the campaigns we’ve delivered together are informed by the COM-B model of behaviour change, which looks at Capability, Opportunity and Motivation as the drivers of behaviour. Using this framework allows us to shape communications that share information as well as actively encourage and enable positive change, whether that’s choosing healthier drinks, quitting smoking, or prioritising mental wellbeing.

Initiatives That Have Inspired

Our work with Blackpool Public Health includes some of the borough’s most recognised and long-running initiatives. These range from the GULP campaign (Give Up Loving Pop), which encourages children and families to reduce sugary drink consumption, to smoking cessation campaigns and the design and production of annual public health reports that clearly communicate complex data and priorities.

We’ve also delivered large-scale creative campaigns such as Green Dot, a violence prevention strategy that focuses on empowering individuals to act when they witness potentially harmful or risky situations. From early strategic thinking and visual development through to flexible assets that could evolve over time, the campaign was designed to be recognisable, adaptable and use everyday language.

Alongside this, we’ve supported programmes like Get Vocal, a borough-wide mental health campaign promoting the five ways to wellbeing. From naming and tone of voice to visual identity and campaign assets, this focuses on being inclusive, positive and relatable, encouraging connection and conversation, particularly among audiences less likely to seek support.

We loved working on the HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programme, helping showcase the impact of partnership working across schools, community organisations and local providers, and highlighting the role of prevention and early intervention.

 

 

Working Alongside a Dedicated Public Health Team

We collaborate closely with a wide range of colleagues across the Public Health Team, who are all dedicated to supporting residents make positive, healthier choices. Their work focuses on long-term prevention and spans a wide range of responsibilities, all aimed at improving outcomes for individuals, families and communities across Blackpool.
