Two tasks down and another 10 weeks to go until we find out the identity of Lord Sugar’s newest business partner.
Over the last two nights we have witnessed a fight over fish and a lather over luxury shampoo, it’s been quite a baptism of fire for our 18 wannabe next big business things.
And now the dust has settled on the first two episodes of series 11 what have we learned from Lord Sugar’s latest line of entrepreneurs?
- We love Ruth – From her dazzling power suits to her “creepy” sales technique, the oldest of the candidates isn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty. Even Karren learned a thing or two about flogging salad to bankers. Ssshhhh….
- Don’t argue with Elle – There’s some feisty women in this series, no more so than Elle who will say what she likes, as Vana found out after the pants shampoo pitch.
- Always believe in your product – How Natalie managed to escape the axe following her dissing of Desert Secret is the biggest shock so far. Even if you don’t like the product you’ve got a job to do, don’t do it to the detriment of the team.
- Claude crush – Apparently he’s become a bit of a heartthrob with the nation but it’s clear Claude has to come out of his shell a bit before he takes over Nick’s mantle. A good start though.
- Swiss Army Knife – Surely the best quote of the series so far, “I’m the Swiss Army knife of business skills”, came courtesy of Richard Woods, a man who has swallowed a management book before entering the competition.
- Brett will get into a fight – The former Naval officer does everything by the book – apart from making the correct number of fish cakes – and he’s starting to rub his colleagues up the wrong way. We give him a few more weeks before he’s sacked for decking someone who questions his authority.
- Dan wasn’t the man – Yes he can’t sell and he’s no good at numbers but his bumbling around Canary Wharf was a sight to behold. We feel for Dan Callaghan as April should have got the first boot.
- Jack Dee – The deadpan comic needs to bed in a little following Dara’s departure, it seems like he’s trying a bit too hard. He has a great wingman in Romesh though.
- Charleine’s hair – You can tell she’s a hairdresser, her hair-style changes in every scene.
- Don’t try and sell fish to vegans – Just don’t.
There’s some way to go yet – and no doubt some cringe-worthy moments along the process – but stay tuned for more Happy insights into everyone’s favourite Wednesday (and Thursday, in this case) night treat.
