Trends pervade the world around us from cake choice to fashion, and web design is no different.
Trends are born from experimentation and innovation, and amongst the driving factors for change.
Let’s check what we can expect to happen in web world in 2017:
Content
Ladies and Gentlemen, we can confirm that content is definitely back! After few years of negligence we’ll again be focusing much more on designing web layouts that allow content be the star.
Big, Bold and Creative Typography
This trend started in 2016 but in 2017 we’ll see how it matures.
Expect type to not only take up more space on screen, but also expect to see more creative typefaces than the usual web fonts you are used to.
End of Flat Design
It’s time to say goodbye to our old, good friend – Flat Design. Reason? It’s boring, looks the same on most of the websites and has lost its personality and creativity.
I think that this place will be taken now by more unique, creative and imaginative designs.
It’s already clear that we’ll see much more experimentation and courage in web design than in previous years.
Video becomes King
They say a picture paints a thousand words, but a video does that tenfold. All kinds of “moving” and interactive content like animation, parallax sections or gifs and videos instantly captures user’s attention the trick is to carefully construct a clear narrative and message.
Flexbox
Flexbox is a CSS3 layout mode that makes it much more efficient and predictable when working with responsive page layouts.
Flexbox has been steadily gaining interest, and with it now being supported by all modern browsers, it’s likely more front-end developers will be using it.
Conclusion
2017 is sure to see some great websites.
Hopefully this has introduced you to some new design patterns and web technologies that you weren’t aware were becoming popular.
It’s always beneficial to know what’s happening in the industry and to see where you’re able to improve in order to develop and progress.
