How Happy has helped young voters in Blackburn make their mark.
In the last general election less than half of all 18-24 year olds voted. With the next one looming, Blackburn Council wanted to encourage more of its young people to take a trip to the ballot box – but first that meant getting them onto the electoral roll.
The bright, punchy “Not Registered. Get Registered” campaign was our response, and it took a broad approach to driving interest among Blackburn’s young people. Being on the electoral roll does more than entitle you to vote. It boosts credit scores too, so registering can help young people buy phones, apply for a mortgage or get a car loan.
The council loved this positive approach, with a message designed to convince even the most apolitical of the benefits of registering. The campaign is appearing in Adshels across Blackburn right now.
