Selfies – everyone’s doing it these days, whether it’s at a concert, a family gathering or watching an activity, it’s now a must-do for everyone with a smart-phone.
They have become the popular past-time, whether it’s at arms length or with a selfie stick.
Blackburn-with-Darwen Council and LetsFoster.co.uk wanted to be a part of this phenomenon to encourage more people to foster children and young people. As part of their marketing campaign they wanted to portray a family feel with messages that anyone can become a fosterer, no matter their sexual orientation, religious practices or background.
With the guidelines to become a foster parent widening and more help available, LetsFoster worked closely with Happy Creative to promote their latest campaign which went live at the beginning of January across Blackburn and Darwen.
The campaign is based around the concept of the selfie with families picturing themselves in poses across Blackburn and enjoying everyday family life.
Sourcing models and choosing a suitable location within the town, Happy created a lively and family-orientated feel to the campaign which produced posters, postcards and a direct mail as part of its marketing tools. And although the weather wasn’t kind on the day of the shoot, the results have proved to be a big success for the campaign.
The “Picture Yourselfie” campaign aims to attract more people into fostering and the message underlies the amount of support each prospective fostering family is given as they go through the journey to become a foster family. While the process might seem daunting to some people, the campaign has been a success with its portrayal of everyday life through the lens of a family who have begun an exciting journey to care for children and young people through the boroughs of Blackburn and Darwen.
